About Us

Shady Oaks Marina was built in the early 1950s by the Gunther family. Shady Oaks is a small marina with a lot to offer: both covered and open slips, easy access by land and by sea, full service support from a great team. (Click for a full list of amenities.) And owner John Martini lives right on the property. Martini Yacht Sales is also based here, so the brokerage team can take advantage of the slips and service to provide great support when you’re ready to buy or sell your boat.

Our History

Today, ownership of the marina has come full circle. It was built in the 1950s by the Gunther family, and today’s owner John Martini grew up around the marina. He held every position from working the docks to repairing boats, to eventually becoming a yacht broker. John’s Dad even owned the marina for a time.

The longest tenured owner of the marina to date, however, was Tom Frank. No conversation about its history would be complete without discussing his impact over the past 25 years. Tom really put Shady Oaks on the map and built it into one of the premier locations to buy and or berth your boat.

As John Martini took the helm, one of the first things he did was to get a marina dog, Chester. He’s a Boxer just like the one that kept a watchful eye over the marina when John was growing up and Mr. Gunther Sr. owned the marina.
